What it is
BoincTasks++ is a native desktop application for managing BOINC on many computers at once. Add every client on your network, and its tasks, projects, transfers, messages and history appear together in one window, with each row telling you which computer it came from.
It is a port of BoincTasks by eFMer, the Windows application BOINC crunchers have used for years. The port follows the original closely on purpose: the same menus, the same views, the same columns, the same rules engine. If you know the Windows version you already know this one.
Why bother, when BOINC Manager exists
BOINC Manager talks to one client at a time. If you run BOINC on more than a couple of machines, you spend your day switching between them. This shows you everything at once, and lets you act on any of it: suspend a task on one host, set no-new-work on a project across every host, watch which project has run dry.
- Every client in one window — grouped, filtered by computer or by project
- It stays responsive — each client is polled on its own thread, so one unreachable machine never freezes the display
- History that outlives the client — BOINC forgets a task once it has been reported; this keeps its own record
- Rules — act automatically when a condition is met, without sitting and watching
- Light — around 5% of one CPU core and 200 MB while monitoring 41 clients and 7,000 tasks
Get it
A single AppImage that needs no installation, or a .deb. Both
run on Ubuntu 22.04 and newer, Debian 12 and newer, and current
Fedora, RHEL 9 and openSUSE.
Status
This is version 0.9.4 — feature complete against the Windows application apart from a handful of Windows-only pieces, and in testing. If you find something broken or missing, say so; that is what this stage is for.
